The line between work and play is more blurred than ever. A new generation of mobile workers has traded cubicles for coffee shops, and offices for workspaces around the world.
This change has largely been enabled because of strides made in network technology; Wi-Fi has become such an essential part of life that checking the ‘Wi-Fi’ box when searching for a hotel or restaurant online seems ridiculous; the technology is a must.
Furthermore, it shouldn’t just be available, but it should be fast and secure too – it's what customers expect. Here’s a few reasons why great customer Wi-Fi is essential for any business, not just hotels and restaurants.
Wi-Fi is a necessity for the rise of the mobile worker
The rise of flexible working, the gig economy, and freelancers has been made possible because of the widespread availability of Wi-Fi. A new generation of mobile workers has traded cubicles for coffee shops, and offices for workspaces around the world. The line between work and play is more blurred than ever.
By 2022, the global mobile workforce is expected to grow to 1.87 billion, accounting for 42.5 percent of the worldwide workforce. Most of them will consider free, enterprise-class, Wi-Fi an absolute must when working remotely
Make or break the customer experience in less than ten minutes
A survey by hotelier Roomzzz uncovered that 65 per cent of guests went online within seven minutes of checking in and a third requested the Wi-Fi password on arrival. This means you can make or break the customers’ experience in less than ten minutes, and this of course not only relates to hotels but to almost any other business.
It’s a chance to exceed customer expectations
A Wi-Fi service is a great way to exceed customer expectations. Guests are unlikely to expect superfast access to download large files and video conference, so why not let them know that they can access these speeds – even if it’s for a fee.
Offering Wi-Fi for free, or unveiling further deals or recommendations when they sign-in are other ways you can go beyond what is expected from an internet service.
Let customers know you've invested in a quality Wi-Fi service
Linking your services to a best-in-class brand and making sure the access points are visible, can help brand your Wi-Fi and above all, improve the quality of the signal.
